Statement to voters
"I have worked tirelessly in my 101 days as your MP.
Full statement
We have had 14 long years of chaos and decline under the Tory government, I am pleased the country now has the opportunity to vote for change.
Keir Starmer has set out the six first steps the Labour party would take to turn things around and get Britain back on its feet.
I am regularly out on the doorstep talking to voters and I hear first hand how working people are struggling with the cost of living, how they can't get a doctor or dentist appointment… Families are worried about the education their children are receiving and local residents tell me they are sick of the antisocial behaviour they have to put up with day in, day out.
I was honoured to be elected as MP for Wellingborough and Rushden in February. In my 101 days, I have made real progress in laying my first steps for change and I hope the community will continue to place their trust in me to continue delivering the pledges I was elected on."
MY PLEDGES TO YOU and what I have done so far:
BANG THE DRUM FOR OUR TOWN CENTRES I have championed small businesses across the area and I have begun setting up a task force to bring key stakeholders from the town centres together.
WORK TO GET KNIVES OFF OUR STREETS I hosted an event in parliament with the charity Off The Streets to get knives off our streets. I will also work with the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone closely on the issue.
HELP FIX OUR NHS I have organised a roundtable with local GP and dental surgeries and launched a parliament petition to call for an emergency care unit at Isebrook hospital. On the last PMQs, I asked the prime minister about the lack of dentists.
SORT THE POTHOLES! A road contract expert and I have been analysing the council and contractors processes to build a case. I have also met with the leader of the Conservative Council where we discussed the state of the roads, to apply pressure.
PUT MORE MONEY BACK IN YOUR POCKET A Labour government will bring economic stability with tough spending rules to grow economy and keep taxes inflation and mortgages as low as possible.
