Statement to voters

"I stood for the District and Town Councils two years ago because I was sick and tired of people talking down our town.

Full statement

"As a dad raising two young children in Newhaven, I thought that our town deserved better than being used as a dumping ground for the Tories. So instead of just complaining about it, I put myself forward and was lucky enough to be elected. It is understandable that people are cynical though.

"have dedicated myself to being a loud voice for our town and I’ve been really grateful to those people who have been in touch to say they’ve noticed! We are attracting funding for new projects in the town and starting to see a real buzz.

"There are still some mountains to climb. We have our disastrous ring road and related traffic congestion. We need to get the sandy West Beach reopened. And we need to do much better at supporting local young people with skills and training.

"I hope that you’ll support me to take on these challenges and continue to bang the drum for Newhaven."

James's record of action:
Led the campaign to get our ring road resurfaced. Work is planned to start in April.
Free parking to support our town centre shops and businesses.
Changing the way people think about our town and speaking up for our community.
Secured funding to finally bring the former UTC building back into use.
