Statement to voters

Mike Jelfs was born in Cosby and lived in the village till his marriage to Zoe in 1991.

Full statement

After a few years living on the outskirts of Leicester, he moved to Whetstone in 1997, where he has lived ever since. He has one daughter who is a second-year student midwife at the University of Leicester, studying for a master's degree.

After leaving school he worked locally for a number of companies before joining George Davies with his new Clothing Business supplying ASDA. He left in 1997 to join IBM, where he spent the next 10 years as an application consultant with a number of retailers in the UK, Europe and USA. In 2006 he left to start his own business as an independent Retail Solution Architect with contracts with some of the largest retail businesses including Tesco, John Lewis and ASOS together with one of the largest domestic retailers in Shanghai, China.

Locally he been a Trustee for an Educational Trust, and has passion for local history and Genealogy. He is also a member of Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

He has spoken out on social media about a number of local issues and thought now he has the time to devote to it, he should stand for election for this progressive party.
