Statement to voters

I have lived and worked in Worcester for the last twenty years.

Full statement

I feel privileged to stand as a city candidate for St. John’s.

Our green spaces are valuable, I will work with residents to preserve our existing spaces and enhance them. The volume of traffic driving through St. John’s to other destinations is concerning, traffic pollution damages the environment and our health; the city needs a transport plan which prioritises both public transport and active travel and which also meets St. John’s residents’ needs.

I will fight for sufficient quality and affordable housing along with the necessary amenities to meet the housing need. I will work with local residents’ organisations to ensure that they are able to influence local plans before planners make up their minds.

Local businesses are important, I will work to support this vital aspect to life in St. John’s, and also to attract new, quality jobs into the area.

The ‘village in the city’ is known for its community spirit. Now, more than ever, that sense of community needs nurturing; I will work to ensure that our community centres and libraries are adequately funded, meeting the needs of residents across the area.
