Mayor of Greater Manchester

This election will be held on Thursday 2 May 2024.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester helps direct the overall strategy of the ten councils which make up the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The Mayor oversees police and fire services, and has other responsibilities in areas such as transport, housing, business, and skills.

Mayor of Salford

This election will be held on Thursday 2 May 2024.

The Mayor of Salford is elected to lead Salford Council. The Mayor chairs the council cabinet, directs the council's strategy, and sets the council budget. The Mayor's decisions can only be overturned by a two-thirds majority of councillors.
