This election will be held on Thursday 30 July 2026.
This by-election was called because the elected member was elected Member of the UK Parliament, and cannot hold both positions.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester helps direct the overall strategy of the ten councils which make up the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The Mayor oversees police and fire services, and has other responsibilities in areas such as transport, housing, business, and skills.
