Statement to voters
I am 70 and a retired computer analyst/programmer. I have been a Green for 30 years and a campaigner for social causes for even longer. I led the campaign to make Enfield a Fairtrade Borough and am Secretary of the local branch of the United Nations Association and Treasurer of Enfield Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
I hate unfairness in all its forms, so I am particularly unhappy with the present government which seems determined to do all it can for the rich while demonising the poor, the disabled and anyone who wants to come to this country and is not a billionaire. If elected I will co-operate with anyone of any party who seeks to decrease inequality and reverse Tory benefit cuts.
We have to take better care of the planet. Our civilisation is threatened, and not just by climate change. Dangerous boundaries are being crossed in terms of resource depletion, pollution, soil erosion, overfishing etc. Only Greens seem to appreciate this, and appreciate also how much better life could be if we stopped chasing the will-o'-the-wisp of conspicuous consumption.
