Rhian Kanat was the Liberal Democrats candidate. Find out more about their policies from the Liberal Democrats Bromley local election Local manifesto.
Statement to voters
Rhian Kanat lives in Bromley Town with her husband and two young children. She is an active local campaigner on various issues but in particular the imminent and dire shortage of secondary school places in the Borough (a shortfall of over 2500 places by 2022), campaigning to ensure it is addressed with appropriate and high quality new school schemes. She is also following with interest the extensive developments proposed in Bromley Town and has been astonished at the failure of Bromley Council to adopt a holistic approach in its town plan and take responsibility for ensuring that the developments it champions are supported by appropriate infrastructure and amenities.
Rhian's local campaigning has given her an insight into the workings of Bromley Council where she has been shocked by some of the poor quality decision making and lack of proactive problem solving on display, presumably the natural consequence of having a council so heavily dominated by one party for so long. Rhian wants to be part of the solution to that, believing that strong opposition makes for stronger decision making.
