Statement to voters
Like you, I know that Kirklees’ political class have let you down.
Full statement
Locally on issues like
education, crime, and health, nationally on issues such as Brexit, and globally on issues
like the Palestinian conflict.
As I may not get the opportunity to meet you before you vote, I wanted to take this
opportunity to introduce myself.
My name is George Galloway, I’m married with six children, and I’ve been an MP for the
best part of thirty years. You may have listened to me on your television or radio over the years.
I’m standing in this by-election to provide a voice for the voiceless, for you, to get Batley and Spen back on track. To send a message to the main parties that Batley and Spen will not be ignored any longer - the poor relation to Huddersfield in Kirklees Council.
To send a message to Sir Keir Starmer that he must go, to send a message to Boris
Johnson that we need more investment.
I’ve got a fifty-year track record, fighting for the oppressed all of my political life. If you’d be kind enough to lend me your support on July 1st, I will be the voice of Batley and Spen in Westminster, not the voice of Westminster in Batley and Spen.
I’m out and about every day knocking on doors in the community and hope to meet
you in the coming weeks. However, please contact me directly on 01924 682700 or email me on ggforbatleyandspen@gmail.com if you would like to speak to me about anything before you place your vote, or if I can help in any way.
If you elect me on 1st July, I’ll serve only one term - I won’t stand again - and promise to be accessible to you at all times by ensuring that you and all constituents have my personal mobile number. I say what I mean, and mean what I say. And I’ve got the experience to deliver for you.
With respect,
George Galloway
