Barry McElduff is married to Paula and they have three grown up children; Niamh, Bláthnaid and Patrick.

He was educated at St Colcille’s Primary School, Carrickmore and at Omagh CBS. He is also a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast where he graduated with a BA (HONs) in political science and celtic studies.
Barry has played gaelic football at senior level for Carrickmore and at minor level for Tyrone. He also has a keen interest in the Irish language.
He is a member of Sinn Féin’s Ard Comhairle and sits on the Tyrone Sinn Féin commemoration committee.
Barry is a former chairperson of Omagh District Council and was first elected to the Assembly in 1998 and has been reelected ever since.
