Bryan served as a magistrate in West Kent for 30 years before retiring from sitting on the bench in 2015.

Bryan continues to play an active part in supporting legal services as a Custody visitor. This role entails visiting police stations to ensure that the correct procedures are in place for the people in custody. Bryan has been the chair of the Older Peoples Forum in Maidstone, supporting the provision of services to the older residents of the Borough and part of Age UK Maidstone.

Bryan has been the Borough Councillor for Heath Ward of Maidstone Borough Council for the last 13 years. In which time he has served on many of the committees of Maidstone Borough Council. I am currently serving on the planning committee.

Bryan is currently a trustee of Maidstone Mediation Service, which supports all areas of disputes throughout the Borough. He is also a member of both the Maidstone Dawn Patrol Rotary Club and the Maidstone Lions. He works with both organisations taking an active part in fundraising and community and environmental projects. With the Lions his current role with Rotary is as Assistant Governor, supporting and advising eight clubs in the South Central area of Kent.
