Statement to voters

About me: I currently live on Park Avenue with my wife Sarita right in the heart of Avenue ward.

Full statement

We have been foster carers for over 10 years and the children we look after all go to local schools.

A community champion:

Last year I helped to set up the Avenue Ward Covid Volunteer Scheme to support vulnerable local people during lockdown. We set up a local helpline and to date we have had over 200 requests for support, and over 300 people offering to volunteer!

Real world experience:

As a councillor in Hull I led the first application to be the UK’s City of Culture, and the Wilberforce 2007 programme of events. I played an active role in the campaign to get better telecommunications in Hull - something I continue to push for as a major priority for our city.

Working hard for Avenue ward:

Being in the centre of Hull public green space is extremely valuable in Avenue ward. I have fought to stop local green spaces being built on - most prominently on the public field off Jack Kaye Walk.
