Statement to voters

My name is Merv Boniface and I have lived in Wokingham for my whole working life.

Full statement

I graduated from Reading University and have my degrees from there. I presently live in Twyford and have done so for the past 35 years. I was a Twyford Parish Councillor for eight years until 2019. I entered the teaching profession and have always worked in Wokingham schools. The last of these was from 1990 to 2010 when I joined The Bulmershe School in Woodley as Deputy Headteacher. I joined the Green Party quite recently in 2021 but have never looked back following that decision. I have always been passionate about Green issues from river and waterway purity, plastic in our seas to energy conservation, animal protection and climate change amongst many others. In fact, I have never felt so at home with Green policies which have come to mean so much to us all. I am presently Chair of Wokingham Greens and we have made strides towards our target of a Green councillor at the Borough Council as soon as possible. Hopefully this will happen for Twyford, Ruscombe and Hurst Ward residents. As part of this it is very important that the Green Party hold their own in Parliamentary elections. I have therefore been elected by Green Party members to represent you at the next General Election. That is why I am standing to represent you all on the issues that will not only impact on us directly but have profound consequences for our children and future generations.
