Statement to voters

I have lived in the centre of Swansea for many years working as a contracts and facilities manager both within the NHS & Ministry of defence.

Full statement

My job was to keep the lights on and people safe. From supplying the bedlinen, food and medical gasses to building brand new hospital wings and housing for our Armed Forces. My greatest achievements have been to rescue five people from the wreckage of a burning aircraft, house troops for the Olympic Games in 2012 and set up The Voice of Wales and of course Volunteering in support of the Army, building beds and decontaminating Ambulance’s during the pandemic.

Why have I stood Unlike the other Candidate I have a proven track record of volunteering and helping out in the community, having just finished decontaminating Ambulances during the pandemic in support of the Army and prior to that building beds at the Dragon Heart Field Hospital. I am Chairman of Henllys Community Group and the Regional Co Ordinator for No. 13 (South Wales) Group Royal Observer Corps Association.

Labour have not only controlled the Council for many years but returned Councillors for Castle Ward year after year. The reward for such loyalty – The highest crime area in the Country – Swansea dubbed ‘Brown Town’ due to the amount of Heroin available on her streets – Aggressive begging from spaced out vagabonds who brawl and steal without let or hindrance Prostitutes and drug dealers openly plying there trade and the Council and South Wales Police believe ‘education’ is the path not prosecution just like the 21 girls who, (even in lockdown) where sexually assaulted and had genital mutilation inflicted upon their person because the ‘Partnership working’ doesn’t involve stopping this barbaric practice for fear I believe of being labelled ‘racist’. An outside Wales ‘Independent Audit’ of the Council needs to take place because to many Contracts are being given to too few firms and for a Contractors to go bust mid contract – like on the Kingsway development scheme I feel shows a level of ineptitude either by the Contracts department or the Council in general – I suspect both.

What do you think the key issues are in your ward? The Council listening skills need to be improved for a start. We all saw the spectacle of Cllr Rob Stewart telling disabled people that is they didn’t like where they lived in Wind Street – to Move. People in specialist wheelchairs and other disabilities who have lived in Henllys for many years being told to ‘jog on’!

Recovery from the Pandemic, must be a priority, with the needs of Business and Industry, understood and met. Small businesses and the fishermen have suffered the most.

The Never-ending roadworks around the whole of Swansea are a joke yet Roads remain poor! Swansea needs to get moving again and with herd immunity which we are told we now have should Guarantee ‘NO MORE LOCKDOWNS’. The terror of the traffic Warden scaring people out of shopping in Swansea hits businesses badly. People with Blue Badges should be allowed to park for free for three hours and people popping into shops for 1 hour. All City Centre businesses waved business rates and market stallholders reduced rents. All paid from by cutting the spurious ‘voluntary groups – labours little helpers) funding and projects like the Taco Bridge which once completed will burden the Council Tax payers for years. Real jobs with Trade Apprenticeships not row after row of coffee shops, fast food ,betting offices and charity shops.

The unacceptable level of people high on drugs fighting and petty crime makes Castle Ward feel unsafe. This is simply Inexcusable. We need every part of the City to feel and to be safe.

Stopping the Council jumping on every bandwagon that comes along in particular BLM and Extinction Rebellion. It’s clear the Council through creative accounting will meet the above targets but the Child labour Costs are immeasurable as the electric vehicles are made from minerals mined by child slavery.

What difference do you think you could make? I won’t be taking my constituents for granted. I will be keeping the Councils feet to the fire. We now have an Army of Local Government Officers yet we cannot keep Swansea tidy, safe or even pothole free. Swansea is a shadow of herself if anyone cares to look at the photographs of the 1950 and 60’s. Swansea was a place to come to. Now with Swansea as a City of Sanctuary and the swathes of immigrants loafing around the City Centre makes people feel unsafe and not a place to travel to as a holiday destination.

Air Crash Rescue Hero A HOLIDAYMAKER from Manchester was hailed a hero after rescuing passengers from a light aircraft when it crash-landed just yards away from him on a beach in South Africa. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/air-crash-hero-saves-6-1171644

Host Military Personnel - Olympic Games 2012 Over thousand-Armed Forces personnel were dispatched to Feltham DGC. I had to prepare the base – act as liaison for facilities management issues and ensure that both the normal business of the site continued. During the Olympic Games the site received two royal visits and Ministerial visits to thank us for our hard work. https://www.mylondon.news/sport/other-sport/feltham-home-olympic-military-security-5977028

Volunteering in support of the British Army As part of the RE:ACT Disaster Response group, Stan says he’s been helping the Welsh Ambulance Service decontaminate ambulances at Singleton Hospital – helping ensure a speedy turnaround of Ambulances which would otherwise have been off the road for several days. The group of volunteers worked 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week. https://swanseabaynews.com/2021/04/07/swansea-ukip-candidate-comes-clean-revealing-lockdown-volunteering-decontaminating-ambulances/

Royal Observer Corps Association gives the opportunity to continue meeting with colleagues and to maintain the comradeship, spirit and ethos of the Corps into the future.
