Statement to voters
Hello, I am a local veteran of 34 years of service, married to Babs (a Community NHS Nurse) with originally two daughters Pippa (Senior Engineer) and Georgie.
Full statement
We lost Georgie just before the pandemic but like so many miss her greatly.
I have been the County Councillor for Aldershot South for the last 4 years and have continued the great work of my predecessor in supporting the Residents, Schools, Care Homes, Charities and public services for North Town, Manor Park and Aldershot Park. Additionally, I have worked jointly with both County Departments and Rushmoor in supporting the regeneration programme of our town centre and housing areas.
I have also been supporting the residents in their fight against Crime and Anti Social Behaviour by liaising with both the Police, Charities and VIVID to make our estates more safe for both the elderly and young residents. I believe we must all play our part in making our communities a safer place to live in.
I am a great supporter of Climate Change, Country Parks and Nature Reserves, and any country sport that enables the public and our residents and families to get out and enjoy themselves. I am also a strong supporter of Tice Meadows Nature Reserve (TMNR) and have taken the Leader of Hampshire County Council to visit that reserve and meet the TMNR Group committee. Both the County and Rushmoor strongly support the retention of this GREEN area. To further the Climate Change cause, I am an active member of the Local Walking and Cycling Infrastructure Plans committee (County & Rushmoor) to create and improve routes and pathways of Rushmoor to enable all elements of the public to use them and reduce vehicles on the road to key areas such as; schools, businesses, hospitals/Medical centres, shops and leisure centres.
I believe Hampshire to be the finest County in England, and that Aldershot has always played a major role in its history. Throughout the pandemic our NHS Staff, Armed Forces, Ambulance Drivers, Care Homes, Teachers, Public Services, Key Workers, Charities, Volunteers, have demonstrated their loyalty to our nation and community. I on behalf of the County Council cannot thank you enough for your hard work, generosity and sacrifices you have all made to see us through this critical period. There is still a long way to go and I hope to be there to support our Aldershot South residents through lt.
