Andrew has been a councillor for Burstead since 2014.

He has been Leader of the Basildon Conservative Group since 2018 and is currently Leader of the Council. In addition to chairing the Policy Executive, he also personally chairs the Enforcement and Public Order Committee.

He is also the Council's representative on the Association of South Essex Local Authorities, the Basildon Bus Forum, the Basildon Civil/Military Partnership Board, the Basildon Taxi and Private Hire Consultative Forum, the District Councils' Network, the East of England Assembly of Council Leaders, the Essex Civil/Military Partnership Board and the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Panel. As an ex-squaddie himself, Andrew is also proud to be the Borough's Armed Forces Champion.

Andrew lives in Billericay with his daughter. Previously, Andrew represented Pitsea North-West from 2004 to 2012.
