Statement to voters
Ashleigh has lived in Maidstone all his life.
Full statement
He was born in Fant Lane maternity hospital in 1966 and later attended Oldborough Manor secondary school.
Working as a professional taxi and private hire driver he has, for the past 10 years, specialised in conveying people with disabilities and also children and adults with autism.
He is a member of the board of management for a housing co-operative which, he says, is a particularly satisfying and enjoyable role as it involves him in the day to day running of the estate where he has lived for the past 25 years.
Elected as a Borough councillor for Heath Ward in 2018, Ashleigh currently sits on the Planning committee and also on the Joint Transportation Board where KCC and MBC councillors consider a wide range of Highway issues.
His experience as a professional driver has provided Ashleigh with a detailed insight into the transport network and his housing experience has given him an in-depth knowledge of social housing both of which enable him to work sympathetically and effectively on residents’ behalf.
