Full statement
She went to Heston Infants where her mum taught and the Green School. Her childhood gave Seema a passion for fairness, enterprise and opportunity.
Seema was first elected to Parliament to represent Feltham and Heston in 2011 and has been a strong voice standing up for residents and businesses in Feltham and Heston since.
Seema secured investment in Feltham town centre and a new masterplan for Feltham and worked with London’s Deputy Mayor for Communities to establish Generations Active Hounslow. She set up a charity supporting Hounslow’s young people – delivering mentoring schemes, masterclasses and laptops to students during lockdown. After speaking to residents affected by leasehold, she brought local people to Parliament to speak with committees and ministers.
For the last four years, Seema has worked with local schools as co-ordinator of the Hounslow Christmas Project to ensure every child has a Christmas – delivering more than 2,500 presents in 2023. She is a Patron of Heston West Big Local, which she supported as it was set up, and of the Hanworth Park House Society, which she has championed the rebuild of.
Seema’s Pledges for Feltham and Heston
Safer streets and more police. Take back our streets from gangs, drugdealers and flytippers with 13,000 more police officers, town centre patrols and more criminals put behind bars – funded by ending wasteful contracts.
Get our NHS back on its feet. Cut waiting lists through 40,000 more weekend and evening appointments each week, rescue NHS dentistry and increase mental health support – paid for by cracking down on tax loopholes.
Opportunities for young people. Hiring 6,500 more teachers, free breakfast clubs for every primary school pupil and expanding apprenticeships and training.
Climate leadership and cheaper energy bills. Create Great British Energy, a new publicly-owned green energy company to cut energy bills and create good jobs – paid for by a windfall tax on oil and gas giants.
Rebuild the economy for working people. Higher living standards, stronger workers’ rights, better paid jobs and a plan for growth and economic stability.
