Statement to voters

Living in and raising her family in Shoeburyness over the past 40 years, as well as practicing as a social worker and youth worker here, Tricia believes she can understand the many issues residents face.

She feels it is important to have a local representative who understands these issues, and is able to listen and respond appropriately.

Tricia’s experience in social care and youth work as well her extensive involvement with the voluntary sector, and within commissioning, have given her a real insight into a wide range of council matters. She brings her experience as a senior manager and former CEO of a children’s charity and has been able to utilise these skills and experiences enhance her decision making and enable her to represent her residents effectively.

Tricia is a keen activist, starting up a campaign to keep the Shoeburyness Ambulance station fully operational and campaigning with local residents to protect our trees and biodiversity. She has been an elected councillor for the past three years and has chaired two special projects, one around improving out comes for children with SEND and their families and has also been Chair of the People Scrutiny committee for the past year. Tricia is a member of the East Beach Resident's Association as well as the Shoebury Society and local U3A and has a good understanding of the issues facing Shoeburyness residents. She states: 'I know the deep problems that this ward faces, but also the many opportunities it offers. I want to see those opportunities available to all, and a community which values and encourages everyone”.
