Statement to voters

Dear Resident, It's hard to believe that it's three years since I was first elected as your councillor.

Full statement

Since being elected I have worked to improve the look of the ward, for instance, by securing the funding to plant the flowering cherry trees on the Queensbury Way roundabouts - now that most of these are getting established I am hoping that they will give us a good display this year. Further work will start shortly to improve the parks in the ward.

My NHS background proved useful in my capacity as stakeholder representative on the Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Board (which covers Whiston Hospital). I am also a representative on the Liverpool Combined Authority where I have been a deputy portfolio holder for Education and Digital and innovation. Yours sincerely, Angela Ball

If re-elected I will continue • To be accessible: I will continue to be available and respond to your queries and issues. • To help: I will use my experience and knowledge to do everything I can to improve the lives of local people. • To care: Care about issues you and our community face. • To put community first: I will be rooted in the community and I will ensure that you are consulted on matters that have an impact on you. • To support: I will do all I can to help families and our most vulnerable residents.

I have lived in Widnes for over 30 years, I am married with two adult sons. I am now retired, my professional background is in clinical research. I spent 16 years working in the NHS. Twelve years were spent supporting Cancer Research at The Christie, where I was the Associate Director of Research. During my time there I developed numerous research facilities and established the Research Tissue Bank. I am a keen gardener and have supported various local organisations with their gardening projects. I have a keen interest in the environment and I have been working to limit our use of disposable plastics at home.
