Statement to voters

Richard comes from a railway management background before downshifting to a self-reliant lifestyle, growing vegetables organically and keeping chickens - part of a major battery hen rescues he organised funded by a sponsored cycle ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats. Richard, a keen walker and wildlife photographer, is concerned about habitat loss and climate change. A growing rural population must be welcomed but community cohesion requires protection of local facilities and a healthy environment.
