Toni is one of Scotland's leading voices in the mental health sector.

He has spearheaded campaigns and delivered change in several areas, including children’s mental health, suicide prevention and tackling stigma. In 2018 he was appointed by the Scottish Government to sit on Scotland’s National Suicide Prevention Leadership Group and in 2019 he won the Scottish Charity Awards in the Leading Light category. He has presented his work internationally, including during Finland’s recent EU Presidency.
Prior to entering the third sector Toni worked in Brussels and in the Scottish Parliament. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in European politics and modern languages.
Toni was born in Italy and speaks Italian and French. He moved to Scotland aged seven and was educated at Gryffe High School, a state school in the West of Scotland. His family first immigrated to Helensburgh in the 1950s where they began work in the catering business. Toni spent his childhood growing up in Renfrewshire and Balloch. He has spoken publicly about his mother’s mental illness in his early years which inspired him to enter the field of mental health.
He lives in Dumbarton and works for a national mental health charity.
