The county of Yorkshire is very close to my heart. My mum's side of the family have lived and worked in Yorkshire for several generations and my family hails from the Leeds, Bradford and Hull areas. Some of my most cherished childhood memories are of weekends and holidays spent with family visiting towns, museums, historical sites and outdoor spaces across Yorkshire.

I have been heavily involved in community and volunteer work throughout my adult life, twice as a governor of both a local secondary and primary school, and as a trustee of a charity which owns and manages an historic house, park and gardens near to my home. As a huge sports fan, a particular highlight of my volunteerism was my role as an Olympic Gamesmaker in 2012!

I am passionate about green issues and tackling climate change, and as a dad to 3 young kids a key priority for me is maintaining and safeguarding local parks and green spaces (particularly in urban areas), something so important for the mental and physical health and wellbeing of residents.

Like many people across the United Kingdom I'm experiencing longer wait times for NHS medical and dental treatment, and the daily challenges of soaring energy bills, high food prices, rising mortgage interest rates and astronomical inflation rates that are eroding my savings and sending the cost of living sky rocketing. All of these issues have been caused by years of Tory mismanagement of our economy and under investment in our public services. I am a long time supporter and campaigner for the Liberal Democrats, and in May 2022 I stood as a candidate in the local council elections. Together with my fellow candidates we knocked on over 6,000 doors in our ward, trebled our vote share, and pushed the Tories into third place!
