Statement to voters

I have lived in Weybridge for seven years and I am standing for the Council to help ensure our community remains a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Full statement

Elmbridge Council under Liberal Democrat and Residents Association control are failing to do the basics, such as emptying the bins, and are hurting our high street by increasing parking charges. They have not managed to pass a Local Plan despite working on it for five years and this means that we are vulnerable to being taken to appeal by developers. As a result, our greenbelt and urban area are at risk.

By contrast, the Elmbridge Conservatives have a plan to fix the council finances, pass a local plan that protects our green spaces and town centres, and delivers improved services.

With a masters from London Business School and experience as a management consultant for financial institutions in the City, I believe that my business background will be helpful in ensuring that our borough is run more effectively for the benefit of taxpayers.

In my personal life, my wife, a psychologist and professor, and I enjoy river walks and playing tennis at the Weybridge Riverside Tennis Club.

My top priority if elected to the Council will be to work with our MP Dr Ben Spencer to press the local NHS for the restoration of Weybridge Hospital. The wait has gone on too long and it is time for action.

I look forward to meeting you and hearing your views during the campaign.
