Suffolk local election
Election postponed
This election has been postponed to allow for a public consultation on proposals to create a new unitary council for the area.
The government has announced a programme of local government reorganisation in areas of England which have both a district and county council. The intention is to replace these with a single 'unitary' council which will handle all services in the area.
Suffolk County Council has asked to be part of the first phase of reorganisation. In order to facilitate this process, the May 2025 elections have been postponed while it is completed. The election for your new unitary council will likely be held on 7 May 2026.
Your area
As well as your new MP, there are others who represent you in your area. We're working on a new experimental feature to explain who these people are and how everything from your council to your police force works.
