Statement to voters
Having been born and raised in Birmingham, I have a huge amount of pride for this city, its people, and its achievements.
Full statement
To see it let down by a Labour-run council leaves me feeling angry and disappointed. I know that so many people are feeling the same, which is why I want to offer a hopeful alternative to years of neglect, decline, and indifference.
I am a chartered quantity surveyor responsible for managing the budgets of multi-million pound public projects, which gives me the experience needed to challenge and scrutinise the financial mismanagement which has left the city I love bankrupt and dependent on the approval of unelected commissioners who do not need to answer to the people their decisions impact.
Bringing back hope to a part of the city which has been neglected will require hard work, which is why I have spent the last eighteen months speaking to hundreds of people all across Billesley and helping to get things done, including tackling an illegal workshop, clearing flytipping, keeping people informed about planning applications that affect their lives, and campaigning to make our roads safe regardless of whether you drive or not.
Having worked with our two existing Green councillors, I have seen the difference it makes to have a Green in the room fighting for their local communities not vested interests, standing up for progressive ideals not hate and division, and standing in solidarity with the people who need it the most.
If elected, I will be that Green in the room for you, standing up for your community and working with you to shape our city.
