My name is Katherine Hornby and I’ve decided to stand in the Tendring District Council elections on the 4th May this year.

I’ve lived in St John’s for over 17 years. I love my community, but, like many people I’ve become dismayed at how the conservatives, and the independents that support them, have run the council. They’ve become complacent, after too many years in control and it’s time for a change.

I grew up in Walton-on-the-Naze in a small terraced house with three brothers. My amazing mum taught me how to budget, but I know what it feels like when money is tight. I understand how hard the cost-of-living crisis is hitting people right now. I want to make sure that every penny of our council tax is spent helping local people and small businesses.

I want more support for elderly, neurodiverse, disabled people and our children, given the lack of facilities in the area. I want to help make people’s lives better.

If you elect me I promise to work tirelessly for the residents of St John’s ward, focusing on local issues that matters to local people.
