Statement to voters

It was an honour to stand as the Reform UK candidate in the 2024 General Election, representing the people of Darlington and giving a voice to those who feel ignored, cheated, and lied to by both Labour and the Conservatives.

Full statement

Like so many others, I believe that politics should be about common sense, honesty, and accountability — not empty promises and wasted money. That’s why I’m standing now to represent Red Hall and Lingfield.

Over the past few years, I’ve regularly attended council meetings, asking questions and holding Labour to account, in fact, I have asked more questions at council meetings than some Conservative councillors.

I’ve challenged their costly Net Zero policies that would burden residents with higher bills while delivering little benefit to local people.

I’ve defended women-only spaces, because I believe women and girls have the right to privacy, dignity, and safety.

I’ve exposed wasteful spending, where your hard-earned council tax has been poured into vanity projects instead of essential local services.

And above all, I’ve spoken up for our community — for the people who simply want a fairer place to live and for their representatives to act on their concerns, such as making sure the council adopt the roads on Millfields.

If elected as your councillor, I will continue to do exactly that — stand up for you and make sure your voice is heard loud and clear.

✅ I will demand value for money from the council, so that every pound of your council tax is spent wisely on services that actually matter to local people — not on political pet projects or wasteful bureaucracy.

✅ I will work with residents and the police to tackle anti-social behaviour and make our neighbourhoods safe for everyone.

✅ I will fight for better Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. As a teacher, I’ve seen firsthand how vital SEN support is for our young people. For too long, the Conservatives, Labour, and Liberal Democrats have neglected them — this must end. I will work with all parties to make sure SEN provision in Darlington gets the attention and improvement it deserves.

🗳️ This by-election is about more than one seat on the council. It’s about bringing balance and accountability back to Darlington Borough Council. Labour have held power for too long, and it shows. Too often, decisions that are changing the face of our beautiful town are made behind closed doors, with little thought for how they affect ordinary residents. That must change — and with your support, it can.

A vote for Reform UK is a vote for real change.

It’s a vote for a teacher who understands the community, listens to people, and believes that public service means putting residents first.

It’s a vote for common sense, fairness, and transparency in local government.

So on Thursday 11th December, I’m asking for your support.
