Statement to voters

My name is Bertie Ballinger, and I am honoured to be selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the upcoming County Council elections in May 2025 for the Ward of St John.

Full statement

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I was born and raised in Worcester, growing up on the Monarch Drive estate, and have now been living in Worcester for the past three years with my wife, after returning from Cheltenham where I studied History at University. Over the years, I have come to know and love the St John's area, having run and cycled every road in the ward. As a member of the Friends of Laugherne Brook, I am actively involved in litter picking, water testing, tree planting, and addressing local environmental issues. My passion for environmentalism extends further as a supporter of the Conservative Environmental Network. I also enjoy staying active as a member of the Black Pear Joggers, where I combine my love of running with fundraising efforts for community causes. Throughout my life, I have held various jobs, from working as a waiter and warehouse worker to managing properties in Gloucester. Currently, I work as an IT Manager in Lower Broadheath. My experiences have shaped me into a community-oriented individual, always striving to help where I can and acknowledging when I cannot. I have run for Council in St John's and St Clement at City level in previous elections, where I finished second on both occasions. I am passionate about making a difference in our community, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve you on the County Council, should you place your trust in me. I have also faced challenges along the way, having struggled with dyslexia throughout my life. However, I believe this experience has given me a unique perspective and deepened my understanding of the diverse challenges that many people in our community face. I am proud to be part of this community and would be honoured to represent you on the County Council. I hope to earn your support in the upcoming election and continue working towards making St John's a better place for all. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to meeting you in the months ahead on the doors or at my fundraising coffee mornings.

Best regards,

Bertie Ballinger
