I am delighted that I have been selected to stand as the Liberal Party's candidate in the Thurlton Ward on May 4th.

I have lived in the Ward, at Aldeby, for more than 20 years and know the area and its problems very well. I've had long service on Aldeby Parish Council which means I know how local government works and how best to represent residents. I have been involved with the long term issues of the Aldeby waste tip and the proposed solar farm and other local issues and also projects to improve the life of residents including a nature pond.

I have been a doctor at the James Paget and Beccles Hospitals and until this year a Governor of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital as well as involved with the Patient Participation Group at the Beccles Medical Centre. I clearly have considerable experience of the local NHS and the real difficulties patients and staff are facing.

I believe we must address issues of climate change and develop a safe and sustainable waste management programme.

Two serious local concerns are the proposed mineral extraction and landfill at Haddiscoe, so admirably opposed by the Stopit2 Association and the further development at the Gillingham A143/A146 roundabout to add to the 3 food outlets that are already present. Increasing the traffic at the already busy roundabout where there have been a number of collisions in the last 6 months including 2 tankers coming together and one turning on its side..
