Statement to voters

Steven grew up in Mid Suffolk and has spent most of his life living in and around Suffolk.

Full statement

He is a local Parish Councillor and previously he served as a Borough Councillor, where he was a portfolio holder.

Steven has been a business owner since starting his first company when he was 19. His businesses have included security, marketing, financial services, hospitality and developing training courses designed to help long-term unemployed back into work. Steven takes the view that to every problem a solution can be found with work and dedication. This is how he has been successfully involved in such varied industries. It is also his approach to being a Councillor and community representative.

Steven has been a local Parish Councillor here in the Gipping Valley for the last 3 years demonstrating his ability, not just words, to help support the community. He said “As Councillors, we may not be able to change the world, but helping someone can sometimes make their world a little better! Making that difference is what gives me a buzz”

As a Parish Councillor, Steven has shown his ability and willingness to take action directly and personally, such as negotiating the peaceful end to an illegal encampment, leading planning enforcement onto a development to ensure the developers started to comply with conditions, representing the community at many levels and dealing directly with public and road safety.

I strongly believe a Councillor should be a representative, an advocate and wherever possible a problem solver. I have a proven track record of doing all of those things. I would be humbled if you were to elect me so I may deliver for our community at Mid Suffolk.

Many electoral candidates make election pledges which, no matter how good the idea or genuine the intent, are never delivered. Often this is because of circumstances outside of their control or influence. Instead of doing that I will pledge to ou that which I know I CAN deliver as your Councillor:

> I WILL always place your and the other members of our community’s views at the center of any decisions I am part of or that I can influence. > I WILL work on creating solutions and help to resolve issues. > I WILL be the community’s representative within the Council and serve as a conduit between constituents and the Council

I am asking for your vote because I want to make a positive difference for us all.

2006 Elected Ipswich Borough Council. 2019 Co-opted Councillor Claydon and Whitton Parish Council. 2023 Elected Whitton Parish Councillor (unopposed) Claydon and Whitton Parish Council
