Full statement
My mother lived in Staverton with her widowed mother and 4 other siblings. Nappers Halt was named after my grandmother. My father was one of the construction workers on the River Dart hydro electric plant and met and married my mother in Totnes in 1937. Having then worked for Dartington Hall he bought a small dairy farm at Aveton Gifford where I lived until I was 21. I attended Kingsbridge Grammar school and studied engineering at Torquay and Plymouth Technical Colleges. In 1971 my older brother John and I started Bandvulc Truck Tyre which we built it up to be one of the biggest in Europe. In 2016 when we sold to Continental 75% of the U.K's groceries were delivered using our tyres and one of our tyres was fitted every 3 mins 24/7 and we employed 450 people. I have lived in Totnes again for the last 20yrs and am actively busy as a STEM ambassador, Chair of Bridgetown Alive, Chair of Totnes Community Composting Group, Trustee of Totnes Trust and relief driver for Totnes Caring. Being an engineer I have an analytical mind and having run a large business I understand budgets and finance,
