Full statement
It will enormously impact the parish council's duties and responsibilities. I grew up locally, I am building my life and legal career here. I will use my energy, local understanding and analytical skills to advocate for your needs during this transition.
I also commit to using my time and energy to ensure that the council prioritises what matters to you: Fixing pot-holes long term, being efficient so as not to waste your taxes, ensuring locals are provided clear pathways into employment, and supporting low cost housing.
As a younger person struggling to survive in this area, I understand the challenges we face. I will represent you by listening and having the hard conversations. I will be visible, contactable and accountable.
More detail as to my priorities:
Your Voice Comes First:
Local voices fix local problems. I know this from my many volunteering roles. I will be contactable, hold surgeries, and prioritise in-person discussions. Let’s bring much needed change.
Efficient Local Government:
Council motions must be carefully worded so once passed they are not manipulated to push personal agendas. I will never ‘let things slide’.
Fix Potholes Long-term:
I will not let up until I find a solution to our pothole problem. I will prioritise council time and money in finding a long-term answer.
If elected, I would lobby for a task force on how to tackle and correct the structural problems with our roads, and to approach how to correct it going forwards long-term. One of the elements would be having sufficient contractors and staff to do the potholes in a timely manner.
Asking the Tough Questions:
I commit to caring more about what needs to be done, than being re-elected. I will ask the hard questions so you have the representation you deserve.
Local Schools to Local Employment:
Locals must have the choice to stay and invest in the area they love. I will support our businesses and ensure our children are linked with local employment opportunities.
Bring a New Energy to Kingsbridge Division:
Locals must have the choice to stay and invest in the area they love. I will support our businesses and ensure our children are linked with local employment opportunities.
