Kay Mitchell has lived in Southend for more than 30 years and brought up her family here.

Having worked across support services most of her working life Kay has a clear understanding of social and emotional health, as well as systems of support. She has experience of multi agency working and managing case work. As a former councillor and cabinet member she is familiar with council processes and procedures. Kay is an activist for NHS and preserving resident services having seen the impact of cuts over many years in Kursaal Ward and across the city. Kay has been involved in projects with residents including delivering new pocket parks and improving the street scene with street art through collaborations with residents artists and schools. Kay is chair of a family friendly multi cultural festival celebrating our performers, art, culture and community that also promotes local business. Kay believes that she is able to represent residents as an Independent candidate working directly with residents on their priorities and improving outcomes in Kursaal.
