Statement to voters
My name is Tom Byrne, and I am standing as your Warwickshire County Councillor candidate for Weddington in the election on Thursday, 1st May.
Full statement
I will be a strong local voice representing us at Shire Hall, and I want to see Weddington thrive—with well-maintained infrastructure, high-quality services, and our green spaces protected. I previously spent over five years as a police officer in the West Midlands, gaining valuable experience in problem-solving, leadership, and working under pressure. I later worked in the office of former West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, gaining first-hand insight into effective leadership and successful delivery. These experiences have given me a solid understanding of how to get things done—skills I want to put to use for Weddington. My political beliefs are straightforward: I believe in keeping taxes low while ensuring residents receive efficient, high-quality services. Weddington needs continued investment in transport infrastructure, education, and vital services such as adult social care. The current Conservative County Council has already delivered a new secondary school, additional primary school places, and increased GP provision for our community. I am determined to build on this progress and secure further investment for our community. I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible over the coming weeks to hear your priorities and share my plans to deliver for Weddington. I am standing to be your County Councillor because I want to achieve real results for our community and ensure it remains a great place to live and raise a family.
