Statement to voters

Hello my name is Scion Elan Butler, I'm your Green candidate for Billericay West.

Full statement

I believe in preserving the planet & lifting the community, I've got experience in Event Organization & volunteering in my local community. My goals are to foster & preserve a ever expanding community, built on facilitating a symbiotic relationship between nature & humanity. Pushing not just for improving our green spaces but also achieving these goals with quality & efficiency, so as to avoid sacrificing our comforts while still enjoying nature's bounty.

Here is something to get to know a little about my plans & what I'd like for you to take into consideration if you decide to put your vote on me:

• Since attending Council Meetings there has been inappropriate green belt developments that I have witnessed being considered by our current Councillors, such as potential housing with no thought on the already struggling basic, education & health services. I wish to take a stand before the Basildon Borough Council & push for increased funding to expand upon & restore our current services to open up more opportunities for our residents, while I do wish to stress that this does not mean that I want to be increasing Council tax to pay for this. Unlike current Councillor's who will be seeing Council tax rise such as to pay for an already failing Basildon Cinema Project, its already been a massive money pit & one that Billericay residents shouldn't be paying out of our pockets for but will be due to their wasteful mismanagement of spending.

• An appropriate plan needs to be considered when thinking about the development of Billericay & how we are going to achieve that, we should be looking towards those who can reasonably afford to build up our community. Private corporations & equity's have seen an enormous increase in their profit margins over the years, but while they have been seen soaring so too have we seen the decrease of household income & the struggle to fight against the destruction of many locally owned businesses. Keeping the population of those struggling to afford their homes Council tax as low as possible & seeing that local businesses pay much less than the private sector.

It was Billericay that gave me a home when I had none, I promise to do all that I can to be the best choice for my ward & improve upon this beautiful community that gave me my place in life. My email is open to all who wish to get in contact, I'd love to discover more each day from your amazing ideas & experiences. Meeting each & everyone of you all will bring me an immense joy, I hope to see you on my many walks throughout our green spaces. Who knows I might bump into you when going down our High Street, no matter how we meet do feel free to have a chat I'd love to have a chat with you.
