Statement to voters
Claire Cook served for eight years as a Bristol city councillor in the early 2000s, and knows at first hand the difference strong local government makes to people's lives. She stands for Labour's values of equality and fairness for all — not as slogans, but as the test of whether a council is doing its job.
She is particularly concerned about housing: young people in Kingswood deserve the same life chances she had. She admires Andy Burnham's open, listening politics, and believes representatives should start by asking questions rather than arriving with answers.
