Statement to voters

Hey! My name is Chloe, and I'm a 23-year-old autistic, queer student with multiple chronic conditions.

Full statement

I am deeply committed to advocating for social justice and striving to enact positive changes within our communities, which has only amplified since becoming a mum. That's why I am excited to put myself forward as a candidate for the Green Party in Chirton & Percy Main.

One of my key priorities is to advocate for increased investment in community spaces, particularly for young people, to address issues such as antisocial behaviour and mental health concerns.

I am dedicated to implementing sustainable support systems for families with children who may be facing neurodiversity and/or mental health challenges.

Additionally, I aim to ensure that the local authority provides more support for educational settings under its jurisdiction - as a school governor for a local primary school, I can first-hand see the impact that the withdrawal of local government has had and continues to have on the education of our children.

Holding the local council accountable and promoting transparency are also crucial aspects of my platform, as I believe it's essential to listen to and address the needs of our residents.

Affordable and accessible public transportation is another priority for me. I intend to work towards enhancing existing routes to better connect our communities.

Additionally, I advocate for the return of empty houses to the local authority to provide more affordable homes. To combat stigma surrounding social housing, I propose initiatives such as a public forum/department to support people in the upkeep of their homes (DIY, not just general cleaning!), as well as, interior design classes and public viewings to showcase the standard of housing that local authorities should maintain.

Supporting local small businesses through workshops, events, and creating more market spaces is another aspect of my plan. I believe in fostering a thriving local economy that benefits everyone, including offering first-time market spaces for free.

Preserving green spaces and biodiversity is essential, for both the sustainability of our world and equally for our own mental health needs and I am committed to protecting these areas while also providing amenities such as seating, bins, and recreational facilities. As a coastal region, I also believe it is important we protect and maintain our blue spaces (bodies of water), this could look like better local sewerage systems and improve

Moreover, I am passionate about promoting environmentally friendly practices, such as introducing community composting solutions and improving waste collection methods.

In conclusion, my candidacy for the Green Party in our local area is driven by a deep-seated commitment to social justice, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. I am dedicated to advocating for policies and initiatives that prioritize the well-being of all residents, especially marginalized groups and future generations.

With your support, I am confident that together, we can create positive and lasting change for our local area and beyond.

Thank you.
