CANVEY!
My name is Paul Harbord and I am asking you to please support me with your vote so I can fight for you on Essex County Council.
I am a husband, a proud father of two. I have spent most of my life managing facilities for property companies. I am now semi-retired and work as a handyman around the Island. I always speak my mind and I believe in hard graft.
Both Essex County Councillors for Canvey are part of the same ruling independent party group running the borough and town councils. They are not making the right decisions for Canvey.
- why have they not ensured that flood risk management is a top priority?
- why have they not made best use of the members’ scheme to get potholes and road improvements carried out, making travel around the Island faster?
- and why have they allowed the decisions for 3,000+ homes to be allocated to Canvey in the Local Plan?
Flood Risk Management - I will put pressure on the Borough Council, water companies and the Environment Agency to improve flood risk management and surface water controls on the Island, including the Lake and ensure areas like the RSPB reserve are properly managed to allow for safe management of potential flood events. I would also like to see more trees planted on the Island which can also help with flood events.
Tackle the Traffic - Working on the Island, I understand the frustration of getting from A to B. I will therefore campaign for better infrastructure and traffic management schemes, campaigning for the third Road including the completion of Roscommon Way and a new access road via the Manor away to the A13.
Combat Over-Development - Canveys infrastructure is at breaking point, I will push for a common sense approach to local planning. I share residents concerns about the 3,000+ homes included in CPBC’s Local Plan. This is clearly disproportionate to the space available on the Island and the capacity of the current infrastructure, as well as putting the future of Charfleets Industrial Estate and its residents businesses at risk.
The Canvey Island Independent Party have controlled what happens on Canvey for many years. They pledged to put Canvey first and they have failed at every turn. Do you think the Island has got better over these years?
I am known for speaking my mind and will be a strong and common sense voice for you. I will fight for a better future for Canvey and every family who lives on it. This is a very important LOCAL ELECTION and I do hope you will help me fight for Canvey, and for you, by supporting me with your vote.
Yours Soncerely,
Paul Harbord
