Statement to voters
My name is Beth Cheshire, and I’m the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for Richmond ward in the upcoming election on 7 May.
Full statement
So why vote for me?
I’m a local candidate - I live in S13 with my husband and our toddler - and I think that’s important. I want this area to be the best it can be because that’s what we all deserve, but also because it’s where my family lives and where my child will grow up.
What an area being the best it can be looks like will look different to everyone of course, but for me it means:
🔴Clean, safe streets, where we can let our kids play without worrying about speeding traffic or stepping in dog muck.
🔴Roads that don’t wreck your suspension with endless potholes.
🔴Public transport that works and is affordable.
🔴Using the resources we have properly - no more empty buildings left to rot.
🔴High quality play parks and youth clubs for every area.
🔴Community spaces that work for the community, and are led by them.
🔴Accessible green spaces, protected biodiversity and clean air - which of course includes opposing the inappropriate greenbelt development in S13.I’ve never been a councillor before - but new voices means new ideas. I won’t tell you I can magically fix every problem overnight, but what I can say is that after knocking on thousands of doors across the ward over the last year, I have a good idea of what people here care about, and that would always be my first priority.
I’m sure I’ll speak to many more of you before 7th May, but If you have any questions for me, the quickest way to contact me is by email.
You can reach me at beth4richmond@gmail.com. Thank you!
