My background has allowed me to see firsthand how our institutions have declined over the years. Having worked for both HMRC and the National Probation Service, our economy continues to decline, taxpayers are feeling the squeeze of increasing bills, and our National Justice System continues to fail both victims of crime and those it seeks to rehabilitate. My most recent roles have been in the charity sector, looking at improving the standard of living for marginalised groups across the UK - with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ rights. I have seen how a culture war led and endorsed by the major parties has not only made the quality of life worse for oppressed groups across the UK, but it has also been used as a smokescreen to prevent real, progressive reforms from being implemented. I know from experience that a progressive society is one which benefits all its citizens and my aim in Parliament is to ensure that our government does not lose sight of the most pressing issues facing our country - failing public services, growing wealth inequality and the cost-of-living crisis. As MP for Nottingham North and Kimberley, I look to address the issues which affect you the most. I have a vision for effective crime reduction - by striving to reduce homelessness, increasing housing and support for rehabilitation services, and creating hope and options for young people we can tackle the cause of crime at its root. The Green Party has a fantastic vision for a more environmentally friendly Britain. By investing in green energy, bringing our utilities into public ownership and investing in public transport we can make bold strides into tackling the cost-of-living crisis, reducing bills, becoming less reliant on imports from abroad and creating jobs in an innovative and growing green sector. As a long standing union member, workers rights are a key priority of mine. I will strengthen the power of unions and fight for workers' rights across all sectors of employment. Post-pandemic, we have seen huge changes in how society operates. It is my goal to empower you to adapt alongside them. I want to see a return of second and third spaces in our community. Places for remote workers to connect and network, better services for a generation of disenfranchised young people, and an increase in the number and quality of public spaces. A perfect example of this is the recent closure of the Kimberley Leisure Centre. How many vital services will we continue to lose under Labour and Conservatives in the name of austerity and fiscal rules? I say enough is enough! As the world changes drastically around us, we need to rethink our approach to politics, community and society. We need to adapt alongside it. The current gang of Westminster Politicians are increasingly distant from the constituents they represent, and as they continue to prioritise the interests of their donors, your priorities are being ignored. I will provide a much-needed breath of fresh air in Parliament - the views and needs of Nottingham North are put at the centre of my politics. Vote for me as MP for Nottingham North and Kimberley as a progressive step away from the stale, outdated politics of Labour and the Tories. I will work with you, listen to you and speak on your behalf to a self-indulgent Westminster. Together, we will build a city and country that you can be proud of!
