Statement to voters

Dr Lucy Beattie SNP Candidate Caithness Sutherland and Easter Ross Tagraiche SNP airson Gallaibh, Cataibh agus Ros an Ear A fresh vision for the North Highlands With over 25 years of hands-on experience managing my own business and deeply embedded within the local community, I’m passionate about grassroots activism for change.

Full statement

Hailing from Loch Broom near Ullapool, I understand the opportunities, complexities and needs of the North Highlands and I am dedicated to amplifying its voice on the political stage.

From my early days managing the family farm to my current work as an academic researcher in Science Communication I have met people in all walks of life and have a wide life experience to bring to politics. My previous work in rural development for the Scottish Crofting Federation took me all over the country from Barra to the Isle of Lewis and the mainland as well as the halls of Holyrood.

I’ve volunteered in various community initiatives as a Trustee of Ullapool Harbour, Director of Ullapool Community Trust and the Highlands and Islands local food network. Added to this when I was bringing up my children I gave time to the local Gaelic toddler group, children’s community theatre company and environmental projects.

I was one of the first Highland women to be part of the Scottish Enterprise Rural Leaders programme which took me to Holyrood, Westminster and Brussels. I would like to be elected as one of the first female MPs to represent the Highlands at Westminster.

I’m driven by a deep-seated belief in Scottish independence. It is not just a political agenda, it is a beacon of hope for a brighter future on the international stage. I am resolute that recovery from policy decisions made by Westminster lies in Scotland's ability to chart its own course and cement its place as a smart, small nation with others in Europe.

Reversing depopulation is a key objective for the North. We need people to stay, people to come and to grow thriving communities. Thinking globally and acting locally to find sustainable business models to revitalize local economies, and championing sustainable growth. From healthcare to agriculture, I will advocate for policies that prioritize the well-being of every individual and the economic prosperity of Scotland. I’m committed to navigating the vast expanse of the biggest constituency in Europe with diligence and determination, ensuring every voice is heard. I am a strong voice for Caithness, Sutherland, and Easter Ross and I aim to make an SNP gain in the North Highlands at the next general election.

Back Lucy’s campaign for the North Highlands – a vote for SNP, is a vote for independence. Cumaibh taic ri iomairt Lucy san Taobh Tuath – tha bhòt SNP na bhòt airson neo-eisimealachd.
