Statement to voters

A Message from David Heather Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Braintree Constituency.

Full statement

Dear Braintree Constituent, Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. Your vote in the up and coming General Election counts. Why? Perhaps for the first time in modern history, the vast majority of people are utterly disillusioned with mainstream politics. Which means that your vote, if used correctly can change the status quo and change the people who govern this country.

The first thing I should say is that if elected, I will not be taking a salary, instead donating it to local charities of your choice. I now run a small business which provides enough for me to live on without excess, and I believe others less fortunate can benefit. I have had 40 years of experience in the real world from an assistant in a shop to Finance Director and Managing Director of large and small businesses both in the UK and overseas. I have over the past 6 months, since I decided to stand, listened to many people in the Constituency of Braintree. Many of you may have already had a chat with me, in cafes, pubs, shopping centres or supermarkets. What I have heard in the Constituency is both of concern and hope. Local issues should always be at the heart of the Member of Parliament that represents you.

I pledge to always make myself available to you all to champion local problems and support local successes. I will support your concerns over excessive immigration. In our Constituency, Wethersfield Asylum camp highlights this problem. I will support an extremely robust approach on both legal and illegal immigration. I will support measures to reduce the influence of small minorities on public and private life. I would ensure that the Local Authority are charged with repairing potholes within 24 hours of them being reported and have mobile units travelling up and down all roads spotting and repairing without requiring permission. I will support banning smart phones and social media for under 16 year olds during school time. I will support our local NHS and private hospitals, looking for ways to integrate. I will campaign for a local Accident and Emergency facility in the constituency. I will support our local rural communities, particularly farmers. On net Zero, I will support a more gradual approach that takes into consideration the cost and benefit of measures put forward. I would work with other Members to simplify our tax system and reduce taxes, to reduce the wastage in the National Health Service and to improve our defense of the Realm. I will also work to reform the Civil Service to ensure customer focus and reduce political influence at the heart of the Civil Service.

I represent common sense.

Democracy is about what the majority want, whilst listening to the views of minorities. It is not about minorities shouting loudly enough that their way is right, so it becomes right. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you agree with my Independent views and wish to vote for me then please do or you can ask any questions by emailing me at davidcnheather@hotmail.co.uk I have adopted the slogan BE CLEVER, VOTE HEATHER and you all, courtesy of the Electoral Commission be receiving a leaflet through the post. Please display it in your window and I will try and visit you so that you can put your points across to me personally. I will also be holding meetings in Braintree, Halstead, Wethersfield, Great Yeldham, Sible and Castle Hedingham and be in the town centres of the constituency over the next few weeks.
