Statement to voters

My Journey as Chairman of GMCA Since the year 2019 I have had the honor and privilege of serving as the Chairman of the Greater Manchester of Chattogram Association (GMCA).

Full statement

Additionally,

Growth and Development of GMCA When I first assumed the chairmanship of GMCA, our membership was modest, with only 20 dedicated individuals. Over the years, through persistent effort and community engagement, I am proud to say that our membership has grown exponentially. As of May 2024, we have 252 active members. This significant growth is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our committee members and the vibrant community we serve.

GMCA is more than just a committee; it is a community group that aims to foster unity and support among the Bangladeshi community in Greater Manchester. We organize multiple events throughout the year, providing platforms for cultural exchange, community support, and celebration.

A Landmark Event: The 19th May Gathering One of the most significant milestones in my tenure as chairman was organizing one of the largest events for the Bangladeshi community on the 19th of May. This grand event, held in Oldham, attracted over 3000 attendees, marking it as one of the biggest gatherings in our community's history.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the Ambassador from the Bangladesh Embassy the Mayor of Tameside Council, the Mayor of Oldham, , and several other notable figures. Their presence underscored the importance of our community and the strength of our cultural heritage.

The success of this event was a collaborative effort, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our GMCA members. It was a day filled with cultural performances, inspirational speeches, and a sense of unity and pride among the Bangladeshi community.

After much thought, reflection, and encouragement from many of you, I am honored to announce my candidacy for Member of Parliament for the constituency of Altrincham and Sale West. Our community is vibrant and diverse, filled with hardworking individuals who strive every day to make a better life for themselves and their families. It is this spirit of perseverance and unity that inspires me to serve you. The challenges we face are numerous, but together, we can overcome them. Our schools need better funding, our healthcare system requires more support, and our local businesses deserve robust backing to thrive in today's competitive environment. I pledge to be a voice for all of you, advocating tirelessly for the resources and policies that will benefit our community. I am not just running to hold a position; I am running to bring about meaningful change. My campaign will focus on:

1. Secure, Decent Housing as a Right: Everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home. I will work to ensure that secure and decent housing is a right for all, not a privilege for the few.

2. Renationalising the NHS: Our National Health Service should serve the people, not private interests. I will fight to bring the NHS back into public ownership, ensuring high-quality healthcare for all.

3. High Quality Free Nursery Education and Childcare: Every child deserves the best start in life. I will advocate for free, high-quality nursery education and childcare to support our families and future generations.

4. High Quality Free Lifelong Learning: Education should not stop at any age. I will promote policies that provide free, high-quality lifelong learning opportunities, so everyone can continue to grow and thrive.

5. Peace Not War in Palestine: I believe in justice and peace for all. I will stand for a foreign policy that supports peace, not war, in Palestine and around the world. However, I cannot do this alone. I need your support, your ideas, and your energy. This campaign is not just about one person; it is about all of us, working together for a brighter future. Let us embark on this journey with hope, determination, and a steadfast belief in the power of our community. Thank you.
