Statement to voters

Centrist | Cross-Party Politics | Common Sense.

Full statement

The party is over for the Conservatives. A Labour government with a big majority will need to be held to account. Now is the time for moderate Independents.

As a centrist ex-Tory I want to help restore the trust in politics squandered by (my ex-client) Boris Johnson, to say nothing of Liz Truss and her reckless gamble.

Does it matter that 20% of Tory funding last year came from one businessman, with unashamedly extreme views – much of whose wealth comes from government contracts? Err, yes!

To deal with the mess we need to update old solutions and embrace new ones, without seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses or equally distorting ‘metaverse’ headsets. It’s about working with the parties when they make sense.

Above all the most important job for any MP (at least for those who don’t have a second job) is to help resolve constituents' problems and remove ridiculous obstacles. I'm chomping at the bit to get started.

To find out more about me and my ideas please go to IndependentLee.org – and don’t forget to record a video clip saying what you would do if you were Prime Minister!
