Jennifer Norman is a professionally qualified chartered surveyor with a long-standing interest in community development, economic regeneration and environmental sustainability.

 She has been a fully qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) in good standing since October 2005. Public service has been heavily woven throughout her career; working at several local authorities either within or coordinating with the property services, planning services, legal services and the democratic services teams. She also worked for three years at the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, a strategic land regeneration quango sitting under and funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). As a project manager in the development team, she was responsible for a portfolio of projects from master-planning, valuation, site acquisition, marketing, development agreements, and grant funding. She has experience of working on projects with services in the healthcare and education sectors, transport infrastructure providers, business information districts and charities. Environmental sustainability and best value are naturally always in focus. Following the birth of her two children, she has been enjoying a child-raising career break. Nonetheless, she has taken an active role in her local community, especially at her children's primary schools. She volunteered as a parent governor (with responsibility for equality and inclusion) for a term of four years, a trustee of the PTA at her son's primary school and is currently a trustee of the friends' organisation at her daughter's primary school. She has more recently joined the local Green Party and can be seen delivering newsletters throughout the year. She enjoys being engaged with the community and is keen to have the opportunity to implement initiatives that would enhance the lives of residents and the natural habitats of Leeds East.
