My name is Adnan Hussain, and this is my formal announcement of my intention to stand as an Independent Candidate for Blackburn in the upcoming Parliamentary election.

I am a Solicitor and a High Court Advocate practising in Blackburn.

- I pledge to be a voice for all my community.

- I promise to make your concerns against the injustice being inflicted against the people of Gaza be heard in the places where our so-called representatives failed.

I say no to supporting a genocide, instead its high time that we focus on our people here at home, whether that be the NHS, education or the current housing crisis.

- I promise to work towards bringing together all sections of my community here in Blackburn, to find common ground upon which we can all unite, and to listen to the voices of the marginalised, whether they be from the ethnic minority or white, working-class background.

- I pledge to steer away from the politics of stigma within our town towards a place of inclusivity.

- To help and encourage existing and new businesses throughout the town and to make Blackburn more inviting and open for them.

- To work on making Blackburn the thriving hub it has the potential to be.

- To work towards ending the housing crisis and bringing a future of stability for our younger generations.

- To work on making Blackburn the thriving hub it has the potential to be.

I believe all my pledges combined have the potential to create more job opportunities and thus reduce poverty and crime.

I know that in my stance, I join a growing movement of individuals and smaller parties nationwide who will be stepping forward this July 4th to demand a different politics.

A politics of hope rather than misery and despair

A politics of inclusivity rather than the current culture wars being stoked by the mainstream parties to keep us divided and in fear and suspicion of the other.
