Statement to voters

Kerry lives in Hessle, in the heart of the new authority, where until recently she ran a social media company.

Full statement

She now works at a special needs school in Anlaby, supporting young people with complex needs. Her experience of working with clients and in education, along with her coaching and counselling qualifications, has helped Kerry develop and hone the listening skills vital for this new role.

Kerry is also a trustee for a local cat rescue charity (Jenny's Cat House) and is on the committee for the Balfour Community Centre on Holderness Road. She's hosted a pop-up café and has run women's circles.

Her two sons are members of local grassroots foorball and rugby clubs.

DECENT HOMES FOR EVERYONE

There are homes standing empty when they could be warm, green places to live. Refurbishing old homes and creating new ones - in the right places - would provide quality jobs.

MORE GREEN JOBS

Green jobs are already vital in our area. We should be doing more. Further investment in green transport and housing will provide a massive increase in job opportunities.

BETTER LIVING

A Green Mayor can be counted on to put the environment first. I want to see increased investment in public spaces plus the development of community gardens and orchards to help reconnect people with our environment.

BETTER CONNECTIVITY

A Green Mayor will invest in accessible and affordable public transport. I'd retain the flat rate £2 bus fare and bring buses back into public ownership. I want safer walking and cycling for our communities.

NO TO AUSTERITY

The Green Party opposes the government's austerity plan. As well as investing in public infastructure, as Mayor, I'd like us to trial a universal basic income and a four day working week. A basic income is an affordable, feasible and overwhelingly popular policy. I want to see a pilot test in our communities. And we need to ask the very richest in society to pay a little bit more. We need to tax the super-rich fairly to help fund our overstretched public services.
