Statement to voters

MANIFESTO TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE WAR ON MOTORISTS WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF LOW TRAFFIC NEIGHBOURHOOD RESTRICTIONS AND LACK OF A TOTAL EXEMPTION FOR DISABLED BLUE BADGE DRIVERS After hearing, reading and trying to digest the massive manifestos of most of the other major party’s Manifesto’s, I’ve finally decided to the time now to give my own opinion, for you to take it or leave it.

Full statement

Frankly, I am confident most of you might feel the same, that you’ve heard it all before, Promises that seem only to surface and try and convince the public that here is something new, something to make a big change in our lives, but actually upon close scrutiny just seem to be a party’s political new and revolutionay plan just heralded before an election to lure the potential voter into a sense of false confidence and exhilaration for which almost never is implemented or is changed drastically once elected. But firstly I must tell you what I am and what I am not. I am NOT a politician, but I AM honest, maybe a bit long winded, but that comes with having had ADHD all my life. For some it’s a curse, mostly to others for the constant disruptions and to themselves for the difficulties of keeping focused and being easily distracted all the time. With a loving and understanding upbringing which my parents luckily nurtured me to live with and adapt to, it’s been a blessing to me and has been my “creative spark plug”, though it has made it difficult to switch off the constant stream of thinking and consciousness which make me what I am, who I am and how I am. I do sleep, sometimes, but even in my sleep, or dreams, I am constantly thinking, planning, calculating and creating something constructive. Why I am starting this so called manifesto with you, at the risk of loosing the attention of some of you, that is my risk but best to let you know that I am as fully comprehensive with the knowledge in what you will hopefully carry on reading with the aim of getting to know me better. To your advantage I hope as running as an Independent candidate is by nature of the category itself perfectly fits what you're hopefully about to read fully. It may seem long and might be updated to you on an almost daily basis in time before the General Election but hey, after reading through a much larger and longer multitude of just a load of the same old ideas but with a different twist, a different spin to that of the other main party's own manifesto's that I’ve managed to keep from either falling asleep or feeling confused and ill from seeing through it all, my manifesto of which I am about to present is minuscule in size thanks to the gift of common sense and a clarity of vision that I have. I hope you will understand and not only agree with me, even if partially, and vote for me as your next Independent MP for this constituency we commonly live in. Yes I am different from the others in more than one way, but that is what I believe is necessary in this current and troubled world we presently live in…the person who as a complete stranger to most, yet well known to others, just might compel you to trust me more. If you care to read more about me and my life then check out my “About” profile somewhere else on this page. That I hope to start in a few days and will be shorter and just a brief snapshot of my life.I am unique, and I just could be the right person, in the right place, at the right time. But that depends on you, to pull the rabbit out of the hat, to surprise everyone as the wild card, the bee in the bonnet that will certainly shake things up if given the chance. If you are disenchanted with all there is on offer from the other candidates and their party’s same old, same old, then I’m your best chance to shake things up and get things done. Hopefully my past history will convince you.

My manifesto is very simple in my intentions to grab your X next to my name on the ballot paper but is more comprehensive if you take the time to read fully to the end of this being my first manifesto. I am totally against all Draconian and repressive attempts of declaring a war on motorists with the introduction of the already present and future LOW TRAFFIC NEIGHBOURHOOD road restrictions, filters, with the discrimination and lack of a total respect for the vulnerable, elderly and disabled, including BLUE BADGE drivers for the way there is NO total exemption from these restrictions as my petition had asked for. It’s disgraceful and also against this country's own laws in the Equality Act of 2010 to offer, like a bone to a needlessly hungery animal, as if compelled against the local governments will, a limited choice of only one road and one filter to apply for a dispensation or exemption for. Even then one still gets fined, issued with a distressing PCN due to the dysfunctional systems that are used by several Councils. The Council trys to catch people out, for what I believe are devious ways to intimidate, insult and make these innocent drivers cash cows to milk as much money as they can to cover for the large deficits these Council's have incurred due to lack of proper fiscal mangagement, for the squandering on ridiculous and unnecessary expensive so called road improvements by trying to squeeze the motorist off the road, often making it more dangerous for both the motorist and the cyclyist with hidious planters and other obstructions for both the entry and exits from some roads thus making it lethally dangerous for the emergency service's to have access as well.Of all this I am sick of and though the present, and I would imagine according to the polls, the next government, is in a very insidious and subtle and sometimes even overtly way,of their DECLARING A WAR ON THE MOTORIST. If you look deeper and closely, as some of the wiser and more considerate MP's from both parties had pointed out during the debate of my petition on May 20th at the Parliament Petitions Committee for this complete exemption for drivers with a valid Blue Badge, you will see what I mean as the printed text of all that was said is available by going to the link on this page of the debate itself. As it was the last debate to be heard by the Committee just two days before the announcement calling for the General Election, it killed any possibility for further action to be taken in the House of Commons with a chance of a formal change in the present laws. You will then realise and appreciate the need for my running as the Independent candidate in this election and hence the need for your votes so I can carry on fighting to rectify this blatant injustice and discrimination. My candidacy is for ALL OF YOU who live and are able to vote in this constituency that are affected by and against these LTN's and not just for that that are disabled that I am fighting for by becoming a candidate. You should know that there are further plans for more of these LTN's in this area.

The following are some of the reasons and proposals that this, my manifesto stands for.

1) LTN's installed since 2020 will continue to cause controversy after the General Election. All party's should agree to scrap these LTN's and that it is the Central government and not the local governments that must commit to ensuring that if any new "Low Traffic" or "Low Emission" schemes do not create any social and/or environmental injustice for everyone.

2) Any proposals for any improvements to the problems of pollution must be based upon the consultations of a completely transparent and be thoroughly inclusive of ALL those represented and living in the areas to be affected by any decisions taken. Any biased disinformation and conspiracy theories must not be considered but true and relavant affects including adverse as well as benificial ones be used to judge and justify any decisions made for the benefit of the majority and not for the self interest of the few.

3) I agree that there is a dangerous and potent enemy out there, but that the enemy is the pollution and not the motorist. By simply shifting the traffic from one area to another only shifts whatever the resulting pollution there would be into someone else's environment and does not eliminate it completely. It's obvious that the creating of displaced traffic actually only creates more and not less pollution due to long waits and more polluted emissions than a more sensibly freer flowing traffic would create. Not to mention the inconvenience and increased pollution in longer travelling times. Nobody benefits except the hard core anti-motorist advocates who live in the deluded fantasy world that everyone should be encouraged to "walk and cycle more" when in reality most of us need to use the car for valid and unselfish reasons and that some of us may not be able to walk or cycle as these people assume wrongly.

4) The assumption that some streets and roads are arbitrarily called "rat runs" when in effect are simply just short cuts when driven safely and with care cause no more harm except to those that use this term of "rat runs" to justify their often selfish desires to make others suffer more while the majority of others suffer more as a result. There is no denying that pollution does exist and is harmful but the solution is not the diversion of this problem from one place to another location with little or no definitive evidence due to the lack of any well proven and unbiased survey which is absolutely well needed and the results judged objectively by expertly unbiased and not any manipulated misinterpretation.

5) The sudden proliferation of the incredibly increased issuance and enforcement of over zealous Councils whose raking in enormously large amounts of money in the way of fines during these times of the high cost of living is scandlelous and so harmful to most of us who can least afford to be victimised so unjustly.

6)Many of the problems caused by most of these unfit for purpose restrictions, now that the pandemic is mostly behind us and the original intentions of the disillusioned Prime Minister at the time, Mr Boris Johnson, can cause serious mental health issues that without a doubt causes stress, anxiety and in some cases suicide.

In reality there is no one prefect solution yet, a solution that would satisfy everyone, that as the saying goes one answer or resolution would solve all problems. The list above in non-exclusive of all the pro's and con's which can go on endlessly in.hope for a more satisfactory and happy for all solution. A utopian and ideal solution is yet to be found. But the present restrictions do more harm than good the the majority of us.These are just some of the seriously dangerous multitude problems we face today that affects all aspects of our life. Our health, both physically and mentally, the economy and in general our overall happiness with our lives. There needs to be a balanced and sensible approach to the problems of pollution that all of the political parties must interact and engage without any other motives than a bipartisan and sensible cooperation between all sides, for the benefit of us all.

Please think that the fact that I have no choice but to run as an independent candidate is of a great advantage so i could, if elected, have no restraints due to any particular party policies, that I could search for the one person or several amongst all of those elected officials who best have a sympathy and more senesible answer to all of the many requests I have recently received for your consideration. Not I nor anyone else realisticly either as an individual or as a collective party know every answer to every question. That is why I am asking for you to trust in my judgement and common sense to pick and choose who best I think could and should be able to help solve each of your many other valid requests, your other issues besides my main purpose as I have outlined here and hope you will accept as the best way, the best direction into the future which greatly affects us all.

I will hopefully closer to the date of the General Election be able to arrange a safe and comfortable place that we can all peacefully meet and hopefully discuss my main purpose of running as an independent INDEPENDENT candidate for being the MP in the Dulwich and West Norwood constituency.

Thanking you for your potential vote! Mike Spenser
