Statement to voters

Hello, I am Pippa Allen, Independent candidate for Beaconsfield, Marlow and South Bucks.

Full statement

Genuinely local, I decided to stand here as I believe I have a meaningful connection with the area and its residents, having grown up in Bourne End, attended High March School in Beaconsfield and then Wycombe High in High Wycombe. I was married in St Peters Church in Marlow and until very recently, I ran a Local Citizens Advice in the neighbouring constituencies of Maidenhead, Slough and Bracknell.

As a qualified solicitor, specialising in social justice, I have worked for Citizens Advice charities for most of my career, working my way up from a volunteer adviser to CEO, dedicating my career to helping people to resolve their everyday problems, campaigning for social justice and lobbying for policy improvements. I have also specialised in housing law, working as a legal aid housing lawyer, discrimination law in employment, goods and services and public law.

As a seasoned campaigner, I champion social enterprise and initiatives for positive change and have experience of successfully campaigning at grass roots level and beyond. Campaigns include the successful No More Page 3 movement, helping set up and volunteering as a trustee for a charity arts organisation in a deprived area and challenging disability discrimination by the Department of Work and Pensions.

Personally, in the run up to this General Election in 2024, I felt politically homeless, let down by the same old parties who continue to disappoint so I decided to stand to offer an alternative:

A chance to break free of the broken party politics of Westminster. To rebuild the public's trust in democracy and the parliamentary process. To offer real representation.
